Profile
Software engineer with a deep passion for programming and technology. I focus on building efficient solutions, guided by design and architecture principles that keep systems scalable and maintainable. I am always looking for new challenges to sharpen my skills and widen what I know. Taking an MSc in Software Engineering at FCUL, Universidade de Lisboa.
Experience
Software Engineer, Car & Classic
2025 – Present
- Classic-car marketplace on a 20-year-old PHP codebase that grew into a Laravel modular monolith. Cut search filter traffic by ~90%, homepage data by two thirds, and built the form inputs every engineer uses.
- Merged the search filter modal’s one-request-per-group calls into a single call, easing the load on Elasticsearch, and rebuilt the modal’s front end in three layers so its 20+ filters share that one request.
- Audited the homepage section by section with SEO and product to decide what to server-render, what to load later and what to cap: page data went from 125 KB to 43 KB gzipped.
- Built a virtual photo carousel for listing cards (around 40 on the homepage, 100+ photos each) that loads photos on intent, ten at a time from a paginated endpoint.
- Replaced a wrapper-based form pattern with a company-wide input library: one self-contained component per field, built on small composables and covered by 241 tests. Forms became about half as long.
- Cut the JavaScript bundle by removing legacy code and restructuring the component tree, so each page ships only the components it uses.
- Tracked down and fixed server-side rendering errors, so pages render the same on the server and in the browser.
- Improved the Lighthouse metrics of the marketplace’s main pages: lower TTFB and LCP, and less layout shift (CLS).

Software Engineer (via TightLine), WebMD Ignite
2023 – 2025
- Critical healthcare platform on .NET microservices. Reshaped 30 overloaded endpoints into 46, taking responses from 3–11 s to 150–500 ms.
- Split do-everything endpoints into focused, paginated ones; screens that loaded everything at once became overviews with detail views.
- Tuned PostgreSQL indexes against the query plans, dropping the ones the planner ignored and adding the ones the queries needed, and added caching in .NET on the server and TanStack Query on the client.
- Shipped the new endpoints next to the old ones on a live, critical system and retired the old ones gradually, checking Datadog and Sentry after each step.
- Mentored teammates, especially on the front end, through daily code reviews (often suggesting refactors) and one to three pair-programming sessions a day, in a team of about 25.

Freelance Full-Stack Developer, eBlueCode
2020 – 2023
- Client projects from the first meeting to production.
- Turned loosely defined needs into software that shipped, working directly with each client.
- Designed the UX/UI and built the React front ends and Laravel back ends.
